The Ontario government is introducing the Home Renovation Savings Program, set to launch on January 28, 2025. This program aims to lower energy bills and promote energy efficiency, marking a significant step forward for homeowners in the province.
The program offers rebates of up to 30% on eligible home renovation projects. These include upgrades like new windows, doors, insulation, heat pumps, smart thermostats, rooftop solar panels, and battery storage systems.
- $600 for a home energy assessment
- $100 per new window and door
- Up to $8,900 for insulation
- Up to $250 for air sealing
- $75 for a smart thermostat
- $500 for a heat pump water heater
- Up to $7,500 for a cold climate air source heat pump
- Up to $12,000 for a ground source heat pump
- Up to $5,000 for rooftop solar panels
- Up to $5,000 for battery storage systems
Later in 2025, rebates will also extend to energy-efficient appliances such as refrigerators and freezers. By encouraging energy-efficient improvements, the initiative helps homeowners reduce long-term energy costs while boosting property values.
This program offers a sustainable way for homeowners to cut energy expenses and enhance their homes. By making energy-efficient renovations more affordable, it also supports housing affordability by reducing utility bills for families and individuals.
